The link between the past

De Matos Floor Ryan and rehabilitate historic Studio 48

The White Hart Hotel, one of Lincoln's historical monuments, has been redesigned by architect De Matos Floor Ryan and design consultant Study 48.

The project includes three phases to renovate and focus on the modernization of the original features of a hotel that was once the visit of Richard II in 1372.

For the first phase, office staff and facilities were transferred to the rear of the buildings and new openings to the original structural of the houses, to enable better communication between the street from the hotel.

The back of the White Hart restaurant in the old town was rebuilt as a "Wintergarden" with a large glazed roof, the admission of more natural light. In the new "grill" restaurant, the materials were chosen to complement the original interior, burned with oak floors, dark Triboard panels, leather banquets and mirrors.

In the second phase, not original features like a window screen of wood that separates the lobby and lounge were removed to improve access and visibility of the main entrance. Original prosecutors and cornice work have been restored and the historic Hall of Wellington has been renovated as a private domain.

Quemado dark oak floor was re-equipped to ensure continuity between the zones and a glass balustrade in place. The origin of the antiquities belonging to the administration have also been carefully selectetd and replenishment. Consultant Design Studio 48 has played an important role in the choice of colors and lighting.

In the third stage, the bar Orangery, once a court of the filming of horses and cars, has been redesigned in terms of space, and restored to the original brick walls. The materials were chosen to harmonize with the early stages of the project, including the dark oak burned, black slate, and glass balustrades.

The most successful project is indicative of the spaces that had been concealed or subdivided, "said Mike Gibson De Matos Floor Ryan." It's interesting to see people's reactions as they realize that a certain window of view or are hidden them for 20 years, "he said.
